Voluntary recall: McNeil over-the-counter products

January 15, 2010
McNeil Consumer Healthcare announced Jan. 15 the voluntary recall of some over-the-counter products, including certain product lots of Tylenol, Motrin, Benadryl, Rolaids, Simply Sleep and St. Joseph.

The recall is in response to consumer reports of an unusual moldy, musty or mildew-like odor that, in a small number of cases, was associated with nausea, stomach pain, vomiting or diarrhea. Harveys Monitors Swine Flu Outbreak - Pork Safe To Eat

Peanut Product Recall

The FDA is conducting an active investigation into the source of the Salmonella Typhimurium outbreak and has traced a source of the contamination to a plant owned by Peanut Corporation of America (PCA), which manufactures peanut butter and peanut paste.

Food Lion, LLC (including Food Lion, Bloom, Bottom Dollar, Reid's and Harveys stores) is working in cooperation with the FDA to pull all products that may contain contaminated peanut paste as an ingredient. A number of products containing peanut butter or peanut paste have been recalled, including a few from our stores, however, peanut butter sold in jars at our stores is not affected. The peanut butter being recalled is sold by PCA in bulk packaging to distributors for institutional food service industry use. None of the peanut butter being recalled is sold directly to consumers through retail stores. See below for full list of items that have been recalled from our stores:

Harveys and Reids Supermarkets have pulled the following Nestle Toll House Refrigerated Cookie Dough products from the store shelves due to a manufacturers recall. The Food and Drug Administration (F.D.A.) and Centers for Disease Control (C.D.C.) are currently investigating Nestlé TOLL HOUSE® Refrigerated Cookie Dough in response to consumer illness complaints which may be linked to the consumption of the product in raw, uncooked form. This is a Class 1 recall.

All red raw Roma, red raw plum and red raw round tomatoes sold within banners of Food Lion, LLC are being received from safe, approved sources.

The FDA had issued an advisory recommending consumers not eat red raw Roma tomatoes, red raw plum tomatoes or red raw round tomatoes due to a salmonellosis outbreak. This outbreak has been linked to the consumption of these of tomatoes.

In the best interest of our customers, Harveys has pulled the effected tomatoes from store shelves on Sunday, June 8th. Our Food Safety team is closely monitoring the situation and we provide tomatoes that are from approved, safe sources per FDA guidance. Harveys is dedicated to provide safe, wholesome and quality products to each and every customer.
