Food Safety - Recalls

In cooperation with Manufacturers' Recalls, all banners within Harveys are recalling the following products due to potential health hazards:

Current Recalls:

Hydrolyzed vegetable protein (HVP)

Certain products containing hydrolyzed vegetable protein (HVP) – a flavor enhancer used in many food products – have been recalled nationwide due to concerns about salmonella contamination. To date, no associated illnesses have been reported. The HVP was manufactured by Basic Food Flavors Inc. of Las Vegas, which issued a voluntary recall of all powder and paste HVP made since Sept. 17, 2009.

Food Lion Instant Nonfat Dry Milk

Food Lion, Bottom Dollar Food, Harveys and Reids have pulled the following powdered milk product from the store shelves due to a manufacturers recall. The manufacturer has recalled this product due to possible salmonella contamination.

Nestle Toll House

Harveys and Reids Supermarkets have pulled the following Nestle Toll House Refrigerated Cookie Dough products from the store shelves due to a manufacturers recall. The Food and Drug Administration (F.D.A.) and Centers for Disease Control (C.D.C.) are currently investigating Nestlé TOLL HOUSE® Refrigerated Cookie Dough in response to consumer illness complaints which may be linked to the consumption of the product in raw, uncooked form. This is a Class 1 recall.
