Macon Georgia - Harveys New Store

Harveys Supermarkets Creates 65 Jobs with New Store in Macon, GA
Grand opening - Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009


Harveys Supermarkets unveiled its new store located at 1605 Shurling Drive in Macon, Ga., with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, Nov. 4 at 8:30 a.m.

Members of the Chamber of Commerce attended the ribbon-cutting, along with Harveys’ leadership team. The store will also offered product sampling and giveaways throughout the day.

“Harveys is committed to providing an exceptional shopping experience for our customers,” said Tom Robinson, vice president and chief operating office of Harveys Supermarkets. “We’re inviting all of our new neighbors in Macon to visit our new store.”

The 43,000 square foot store in Macon will undergo a two-phase remodeling project to transform the store into a Harveys Supermarket. Phase one, completed prior to opening, involved cleaning, painting and a partial installation of Harveys décor, as well as a reorientation of the store. The store will feature a large fresh produce department and a deli/bakery with in-store decorated cakes, specialty meats, cheeses and breads, as well as a large meat department featuring fresh beef, pork, poultry and seafood. The new store also offers Western Union services, Rug Doctor rentals, ATM and Coinstar machine.

Phase two, which is set to be complete in early 2010, will see the completion of a pharmacy and a sit-down eating area for customers. The store will have approximately 80 associates, with 23 new positions added as a result of the new store.

James Fowler, a native of Waycross, Ga., will be the Store Manager. Fowler has been with Harveys for nearly 14 years, joining the company as a store manager trainee.

“We look forward to introducing Harveys to the Macon community,” said Fowler. “We’re dedicated to providing great customer service and support for our neighbors in Macon.”

The new store will be open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Saturday and 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday.
